Adoptive Families: Tommy & Carrie
Dear Birthparents,
Hello. Our names are Tommy and Carrie and we are from Houston, Texas. We would like to begin by saying that you are very brave and courageous in your decision. We cannot begin to understand what a difficult decision this is for you and we would like to thank you for reading our letter.
We have been married for six years and have always dreamed of a home filled with children. Carrie is the second of four children and Tommy is the youngest of two. When we got married we could not wait to start a family. We now realize that biological children are not an option and we are excited to build our family through adoption. We feel we have a lot to offer children.
We adopted our first child, Celeste, in February 2010. She is truly a blessing to our family and the experiences of being her parents as well as the adoption have been wonderful. We have an open relationship with Celeste’s birth family, and we consider them a wonderful extension to our family. They were with us when we celebrated her first birthday this past February.
Tommy is a gas trader and Carrie is an accountant for an energy company. Tommy was raised in Texas and grew up with a large extended family who continues to live nearby. Carrie grew up in Louisiana surrounded by a large Cajun family and has lived in Houston for fourteen years. We are both close with our families and visit often. Together we have two nieces, two nephews, four godchildren and six grandparents (who anxiously await the chance to spoil another grandchild). We love having our families visit, and we host Thanksgiving dinner every year.
We enjoy attending Astros, Rockets and Texans games when possible and watching our favorite college teams on TV each week. We enjoy traveling and seeing different places. For our honeymoon we had the opportunity to travel to Italy but we are just as happy driving to San Antonio for a long weekend. We look forward to traveling with our children someday and seeing new places.
You will normally find us at home cooking up a pot of gumbo or grilling by our pool with friends and family. We love taking Celeste to the zoo and the park for play dates with her friends, but you will often find us at home with Celeste and our two Chihuahuas going on walks and wagon rides or hanging out watching a movie.
Our thoughts are with you as you make this important decision for your child. If you feel that our home is the best fit for your child, we would love to meet you. If you would like more information, please call Michelle with Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services Adoption Services at 1-800-543-2229 or 713-522-2800.
