I want to volunteer with PCHAS...

What do I have to do?

Thanks for your interest! These are the basic steps to get started. If you have more questions, please contact Volunteer Ministries Coordinator Nancy Mossman.

1. Contact PCHAS and visit with our volunteer coordinator or Program Staff about your interest in volunteering.

2. If there is a potential match between your interests and a volunteer opportunity and need at PCHAS, we will ask you to fill out the volunteer application documents and begin the process of applying to PCHAS to be a volunteer. These include:

a. An application
b. A permission form for us to complete a criminal background check, and
c. An emergency contact information sheet

3. We also ask you to provide the following documents:
a. Copy of driver’s license
b. Copy of your social security card
c. Copy of Automobile Insurance Liability Card
d. A medical certificate of a negative TB test (we will reimburse you for this cost up to $25)

4. If you have lived outside the state of Texas in the past five years, you must also provide us with fingerprints through a specific company located in several Texas cities.

5. We will ask you to interview in person with a director of a program for which you will be volunteering. Depending upon the volunteer opportunity, we may ask you to visit the location.

6. Volunteer opportunities require training. Some prospective volunteers may take training before the match is completed. Even after training, it is possible that prospective volunteers may not be able to work with us due to a variety of circumstances.

7. As a volunteer, you will be required to communicate directly with your staff supervisor as often as necessary to perform your duties and to make reports.

8. You will have a signed job description outlining your general responsibilities.

9. During your volunteer service, you will be asked to make a monthly report to the volunteer coordinator of the time you spent in service and a brief description of the work you are doing.

10. You will receive evaluations of your work as a volunteer.
